Many couples want to evoke a certain feeling with their décor but some take it a step farther. If you’re trying to come up with a way to really make your wedding stand out, why not try a theme? Your theme could be something as specific as a favorite book or movie or something more general such as French country or New York City. Whatever you choose, committing to a theme is a sure way to make your wedding unique!
Don’t forget to bring your theme into the details of your wedding. If you want your wedding to have a French country feel, try sliding some lavender sprigs into your napkin folds. Go with soft, rustic colors like dusty pinks, smoky purples, and creams. Add in some texture with touches of finely-woven burlap and don’t forget the wildflowers!
The most important thing to remember when designing a themed wedding is not to overdo it. Forcing a design in a space it just doesn’t work in or adding in too many “on the nose” details (such as including multiple Statues of Liberty in an NYC theme) will make the theme look kitschy, not elegant. Themes can be tricky to pull off; you want the room as a whole to come together to create the theme rather than relying on individual pieces.
When designing your theme, think about your style as a couple and whether or not you actually want your whole wedding to revolve around one idea. If you are both huge Doctor Who fans, a TARDIS cake topper and some celestial lights might be all you want. However, if you decide that a full-blown theme wedding (complete with a TARDIS photo booth of course!) is what you want, go for it! Your pictures will be amazing for years to come!
