As you plan your wedding, many people (especially interested family members!) are going to want to know how you plan on incorporating traditional elements into the big day. Every wedding is unique and special, but why not put a spin on some of the more common traditions?
Update the bouquet toss!
Instead of gathering all of your single girlfriends on the dance floor to catch the bouquet, why not make it into a game? Hide the bouquet somewhere around the reception area and have the DJ announce that all the single women (who want to participate) should begin the search. You could also opt to give the bouquet to a parent or other important family member at the end of the evening to thank him/her for everything he/she does. Some brides don’t want to give the bouquet away at all and simply forgo the bouquet toss altogether.
Update the first dance!
If you don’t like the idea of being the center of attention or if you don’t really like to dance, you might consider changing up the traditional first dance. Invite other couples onto the dance floor with you to share the romance (and the spotlight!)
Update the cake!
While some couples love the idea of having a large, elaborate wedding cake, others might want to update this tradition with something more to their taste. There are so many alternative cake ideas out there that every couple is sure to find an option to suit their style. Maybe tiers of donuts or homemade pies are more your thing. And don’t forget all the different flavors of cheesecake!
