When we meet with brides, we discuss all aspects of the wedding and we like to talk about invitations and offer a few specific pieces of advice:
- Invitations are very important to the theme and color scheme of the wedding.
- They are the first step in showcasing you wedding day.
- It is important to keep in mind you need time to order, have them created, and proof your invites.
- There are many pieces to the invite that have to be included besides the date, time, and place such as inserts (menu selections, hotel accommodation, a response card).
A common mistake is not ordering enough invitations and then forgetting to place stamps on the reply envelopes.
You want to make sure the RSVP date is well in advance of your final count being due to your wedding venue. Otherwise, you’ll find yourself calling every guests who didn’t respond! (Yes some people don’t respond!)
It is good to have a bridesmaid call the guests who have not responded for an answer as they will tell a stranger “No”, they cannot make it, instead of being placed on the spot by the bride and have to give an excuse for not attending your reception.
When you have your guest list prepared please make sure all of the titles of your invitees are correct as you do not want to offend anyone by spelling or title mistakes.
These are the big things that come to mind to remember with your invitations and I hope you find it helpful!
