All of your friends are starting to get married so it is helpful to send out a Save the Date card in advance. This will help your guests with the pre-planning of airline flights and time off work if necessary.
This will also let your friends know when you are planning to get married and they can plan other events like the bachelorette party and shower around your wedding date.
This is a good time for you to start thinking of the questions that surround the actual invite as well: How large of a wedding do you want? Are you inviting all of your extended family and their children? The other question to ask yourself is whether or not you are inviting a guest for all of the single relatives and friends.
I recommend that first you, your fiancé, and your parents put together a tentative list to see how many people you could possibly have. This is important so there is no confusion and the families have time to plan for child care and the number of hotel rooms they might need to book.
Keep in mind you want the save the date card sent at least six months in advance but you can send the it via email!
For a destination wedding, nine months in advance is best as people will have to make work and travel arrangements to attend.
Make it fun and make it yours!
