When my friend said she was thinking of getting married on New Year’s Eve, my response was, “Are you crazy?!”
I have been in the wedding business for over 19 years and New Year’s Eve wedding is a terrible idea! “Why?” she asked and I told her that it’s an evening you want to celebrate with your family and friends to ring in the New Year. “Exactly,” she said.
As we started planning the reception, we looked at several venues and we found the perfect banquet facility with availability for a private party on New Year’s Eve. This is not an easy task as most clubs host their own party.
We planned a traditional reception and dinner. At 11:00pm, out came the party favors! Each table received hats, masks, and noise makers. A toast was poured and ready as we watched the ball drop on the screen and projector provided by the country club. We had hired a company to place up a net full of balloons to drop as we rang in the New Year with all of our friends and family.
We served an extravagant continental breakfast at 1:00am so people could nosh before it was time to go home.
This was the best wedding and New Year’s Eve party I ever attended and no one has topped it yet.
